Two injured as bus crashes into lorry at Tamparuli

Tuaran: At least two people were injured when an express bus travelling from Semporna to Kota Kinabalu with 33 passengers crashed into the back of a lorry on Jalan Tamparuli-Ranau, near Kampung Kapa, Tamparuli, at 5am, on Tuesday.

One seriously injured male passenger was identified as Nursiq Rahim, 31, while the other male victim, Kantie Amir, 29, was slightly injured.

Tuaran District Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Chief Abdul Qawie Abdul Gapar said they received an emergency call regarding the incident at 5.04am.

He said nine personnel rushed to the scene on a fire truck and one Emergency Services Utility Vehicle (EMRS).

Read more “Upon arriving, the two male victims with injuries were immediately given initial treatment. They were then sent by an ambulance to the Tuaran Hospital for further treatment,” he said.

According to him, the other passengers, including the bus and lorry driver who was delivering a load of wood, did not sustain injuries.

“The operation was called off at 6am after ensuring no other risks of danger at the scene,” he said.

Abdul Qawie said the cause of the accident and losses are under investigation.
