Mosar rescues Kinabalu climber

RANAU: The Mount Kinabalu Search and Rescue Team (Mosar) acted fast to rescue a 60-year-old climber who fell and injured his face on Wednesday.

Head of Ranau Fire and Rescue Station, Ridwan Mohd Taib, said the incident happened at 10am at Km 6 of the Mount Kinabalu hiking trail.

He said the incident happened while the climber was descending.

“The victim was brought down to Timpohon Gate where he later walked on to seek treatment on his own. The operation ended at 11.30am,” said Ridwan.

The incident was the fifth case in August and the 46th victim to face injury on Mount Kinabalu thus far this year.

In January, eight climbers suffered various kinds of injuries while climbing Mount Kinabalu - in February (9), March (4), April (5), May (4), June (3) and July (8).
