
A mother and her two children died after their SUV skidded and crashed into a pole in Dungun, with two other children injured and hospitalised.
DUNGUN: A mother and her two children were killed after the sport utility vehicle they were travelling in skidded and crashed today.
The incident occurred at Kilometre 59 of Jalan Jerangau-Jabor, near Jerangau Felda, at 6.10 pm.
Two of the victims died at the scene, while the other succumbed to injuries at the Jerangau Health Clinic.
Two other children in the vehicle sustained injuries and were taken to Dungun Hospital for treatment.
All the victims have yet to be officially identified by authorities.
Dungun police chief Supt Maizura Abdul Kadir confirmed the incident, stating further details will be provided later.
Al-Muktafi Billah Shah Fire and Rescue Station head Mohd Izzuddin Mahmood said a team was dispatched after receiving an emergency call.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a Perodua Aruz had crashed into an electric pole at the roadside.
There were five people in the SUV, with three of them extricated by firefighters using special equipment.
“Two others were rescued earlier by members of the public,” Mohd Izzuddin added.
