Mother graduates with first-class degree hours after giving birth to baby boy

  • Clare Hart, 40, graduated with a First-Class Honours Degree from Abertay University, with her newborn son Sol attending the ceremony.
  • Sol MacIntosh Hart-Gordon was born at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee at 5.15pm the evening before the graduation, weighing 6lb 11oz.
  • Dressed in a tiny suit, Sol became Abertay University’s youngest-ever graduation guest, joining his mother and father Darren Gordon at Caird Hall.
  • Ms Hart expressed her delight at achieving a First-Class Honours Degree in BSc (Hons) Food, Nutrition and Health, despite her pregnancy coinciding with the busiest period of her studies.
