KOTA KINABALU, Sept 14 — A Form Two student at a Kinarut school sustained injuries after being kicked by a senior for arriving late to the dormitory.

The incident, which happened on the night of September 7, prompted the victim’s mother to lodge a report at the Papar District Police Headquarters on September 9, followed by a second report at the Kota Kinabalu Police Headquarters on Saturday.

The victim’s lawyer, Nurshalilah Fauzan Mailin, said the bullying incident took place about 11pm at the school premises.

“The victim claims he was kicked in the abdomen, slapped on the face and punched in the nose by a Form Four student, resulting in injuries.

“Additionally, on the same night, a Form Three student ordered him to wash clothes,” she said when met at the Kota Kinabalu Police Headquarters, here, Saturday.

The mother lodged the report after being informed of the incident by one of the school’s teachers.

Nurshalilah expressed concern that while the Papar District Police Headquarters may be conducting investigations, there appears to be attempts to resolve the matter amicably between the families involved.

“Bullying incidents will continue to happen if no legal action is taken against the perpetrators and such matters are settled this way,” she said. — Daily Express
