Mother of three who commits suicide has history of depression

SHAH ALAM – The mother of three who is believed to have committed suicide after being cyber-bullied on social media platform TikTok had a history of depression.

Subang Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Abd Khalid Othman said initial investigation revealed the victim, 44-year-old Sashikala Nadarajah had undergone treatment for depression at a private clinic in Petaling Jaya.

He added investigation at the crime scene revealed that there were no criminal elements involved in the case and it has been classified as sudden death.

“A post-mortem was conducted at the Universiti Malaya Medical Center," Khalid said in a statement.

On claims that Sashikala was cyber-bullied on the popular social media platform, he said that there were no reports lodged over the allegations.

Sashikala, a TikTok celebrity with over 30,000 followers was believed to have committed suicide allegedly after being cyber-bullied.

Khalid said that the victim had attempted suicide at her house in Subang Jaya, but she was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

However, she breathed her last while being transported to the hospital.

Prior to that, her TikTok account @sashikala1978 was believed to have garnered a barrage of hateful comments over her appearance and her handbag collections.

Her sudden death has sparked anger over social media while her followers urge the cops to probe the involved cyber-bullies.
