Motorcycle drivers’ payout plan reviewed

THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is reviewing its payout process for distributing cash relief assistance (CRA) to motorcycle taxi drivers and delivery riders in Metro Manila.

The review follows reports of issues encountered during the April 18 to 19 special payouts.

Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao said the agency is preparing additional payout schedules to ensure all qualified beneficiaries receive cash aid.

Dumlao said there are still motorcycle taxi and delivery riders from Metro Manila who have not yet received their cash aid.

“The DSWD decided to add payout schedules in the coming week, and we are looking to conduct this within the week,” she said.

The DSWD admitted that despite extensive coordination with local government units, transport network companies, and delivery service groups, unexpected issues have cropped up.

“We are studying and assessing these to prevent them from happening again,” Dumlao said.

“For those who were not able to meet the cut-offs and have not yet claimed their cash relief assistance, we will not allow them to miss out, and we are studying the best way to address the issues encountered,” he said.

Dumlao also conveyed condolences to the family of a driver who died while lining up at a payout center, stressing that capacity and safety considerations will be reviewed.

The DSWD urged beneficiaries to check official announcements through its platforms and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) for updates on payout schedules.
