TAWAU: Police here arrested a 37-year-old man suspected of stealing a motorcycling less than 24 hours after it was reported stolen on Thursday (Dec 14).
Tawau Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the suspect failed to produce any identification documents in the 9pm operation dubbed “Ops Kesan” at the car park of a supermarket along Jalan Kuhara.
He said officers had to use minimal force during the arrest as the suspect acted aggressively in a bid to escape.
The arrest, he added, was made following a police report by a victim who said his motorcycle was stolen earlier at 6am.
“The victim found his motorcycle missing before he headed out to the store.
Police managed to locate the suspect before a raid was conducted,” he said, adding further examination of the suspect’s pockets found a motorcycle key that resembled the owner’s.
“The man and case items were taken to the police station for further action according to Section 379A of the Penal Code,” he said.
