Motorcyclist killed in Kota Kinabalu crash

Kota Kinabalu: A motorcyclist was killed in an accident on Jalan Lintas, near the Starbucks U-turn, on Thursday night.

Acting Kota Kinabalu District Police Chief Supt Syed Lot Syed Ab Rahman said police received a report of the incident at 7.35pm involving a Toyota Camry and an Aveta motorcycle.

“Investigations found that the car travelling from Kolombong towards City Mall was making a U-turn at the location when it was struck by the motorcycle travelling from the opposite direction towards Kolombong.

“The motorcyclist sustained severe injuries to the head and body and was pronounced dead at 8.40pm by a medical officer when receiving treatment at Queen Elizabeth II Hospital, while the car driver was unharmed,” he said.

He added that one individual was detained to assist with the investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
