
PENAMPANG: A motorcyclist was killed after his motorcycle allegedly lost control and collided with a roundabout before crashing into a car at Pavilion Roundabout, Jalan Bundusan, on Saturday night.
Penampang district police chief Supt Sammy Newton said the accident occurred at about 10.15pm, involving a motorcycle travelling from the KDCA traffic light direction and a car driven by a 48-year-old local man.
He said the male motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer, with his body sent to Queen ElizabethHospital in Kota Kinabalu for a post-mortem.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, and anyone with information is urged to contact investigating officer Insp Saparia Ladoni at 019-809 5133 or the nearest police station.
Newton also advised road users to obey traffic rules and exercise caution, particularly at roundabouts at night, and urged the public not to circulate photographs or videos of the accident out of respect for the victim’s family.
