So, "Drishyam 3" came out in May 2026, a Malayalam crime drama, and it's the third one in the series, directed by Jeethu Joseph. Antony Perumbavoor produced it under Aashirvad Cinemas. You've got Mohanlal back as Georgekutty, and the usual gang like Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil, Kalabhavan Shajon, Siddique, Murali Gopy, and Asha Sarath are all there too.
Honestly, Mohanlal as Georgekutty? He just nails it. You can really feel how tired and worn out Georgekutty is emotionally, and Mohanlal plays it so subtly, it's brilliant. Jeethu Joseph, the director, really focused on making it feel real, on the emotional side of things, rather than just going for big, flashy thrills. You really get a sense of the psychological impact and the lasting pain, and it feels genuine.
Now, people are pretty split on this one. Some folks, like me, really appreciated the unexpected twists and how the characters developed. It felt rewarding. But then you have others who thought the first half dragged a bit, that the writing wasn't as sharp as the earlier movies, and that it just didn't have that same magic the franchise used to have. It's definitely a movie that gets people talking, that's for sure.
Man, the writers really went wild with that ending! I honestly never thought George would pull something like that off. The movie really takes its sweet time setting everything up, and then, little by little, the tension just starts to crank up.
Yeah, the first half is a bit slow, just getting us back into Georgekutty's family life and all, but then BAM! The second half hits with a real punch, and the ending? Super dark and just hits you hard.
Those face-offs were intense, and the way they shot it all looked really good. It felt like a proper movie experience, and it definitely did justice to the whole 'Drishyam' story. I was glued to my seat the whole time, so yeah, definitely not boring.
It's not exactly an 'edge-of-your-seat' thriller this time, since there isn't much new ground to cover, but George still finds ways to get his revenge, which is what we expect. I wasn't expecting the same kind of thrills as the first two, so I wasn't disappointed at all. The actors, especially, just own their roles again, and that really kept me hooked.
What I really loved about this one was how they switched up the story. The first two were all about finding Varun's body and the police investigation, but this time, they changed that whole pattern, and it was awesome. Furthermore seeing how all the characters have changed over the years because of this whole mess. It really shows how much this case has messed with their heads.
So, what's the final word on "Drishyam 3"? Look, if you're a fan of the series, you'll probably find enough here to keep you hooked. It might not have the same lightning-in-a-bottle thrill as the very first one and some parts might feel a bit slow, but Mohanlal is still brilliant, and the way they changed things up with the story and showed how everyone's been affected? That was really smart. It's a solid watch, especially for the ending, but honestly, I think it's a good place to call it quits for Georgekutty's story. Let's leave it on this high note. I think another sequel would probably just water down the whole thing.
