Muhammad Ziyad Zolkefli’s three-Games winning streak ended at the Asian Para Games as he took silver in the men’s F20 shot put with a 16.61m throw.

NATIONAL shot put star Muhammad Ziyad Zolkefli’s dominance over three editions of the Asian Para Games finally came to an end at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Games today, as he had to settle for silver in the men’s F20 (intellectual impairment) shot put event.

Muhammad Ziyad, who reigned supreme at the 2014 Incheon, 2018 Jakarta-Palembang and 2022 Hangzhou editions, failed to defend his title after managing a throw of 16.61 metres at the Mizuho Park Athletics Stadium in Nagoya.

The gold medal went to Saudi Arabia’s Bader Bin Ali, who produced a powerful throw of 17.08m, erasing Muhammad Ziyad’s Games record of 16.94m set in Jakarta in 2018.

Another Malaysian representative, Mohamad Aliff Mohamad Awi, took home the bronze medal with a throw of 14.45m, which was also his personal best.

Another Malaysian athlete, Muhammad Suhaimi Abdullah, finished fourth with a throw of 13.12m.
