Kota Kinabalu: Police will be taking action on one of their own if he is found to have failed to prevent the fatal stabbing of a 22-year-old woman at her workplace in a mall, here, late last month.
The victim’s mother, Siti Aminah Jabar Khan, lodged a report at Karamunsing on Monday claiming that police took lightly an earlier report lodged at Alamesra police station of verbal threats towards the victim, Nurul Ain Silien, by ex-fiancé Chung King Fung.
Siti Aminah said Chung had threatened to hurt her daughter saying “I will never let her be at peace”, “I don’t care if I am caught by police and hanged” and “I will be going after Nurul’s friends as well” when the victim broke off purportedly after Chung allegedly lied and sold off her jewellery.

Read more Siti Aminah said the police officer in charge of her case did not offer any advice nor conduct follow-up action when the first report was lodged leading to her daughter’s murder within 24 hours.
They expected police to investigate soon after lodging it or offer advice to prevent the murder.
Nurul succumbed to nine stab wounds at her ice cream parlour workplace while Chung turned himself in to mall security guards in the noon May 29 incident.
Chung was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code on Monday which carries the death penalty.
Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun said police are conducting internal investigations.
“If we find his (officer’s) duty to be below standard, disciplinary action will be taken,” he told reporters at the Sabah Contingent’s monthly assembly on Tuesday.
Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles had fixed July 11 for mention of the case.
Meanwhile, Jauteh said the crime rate in Sabah dropped 5.9 per cent compared to the same period from Jan 1 to May 31 last year.
“Sabah police managed to solve 72 per cent of the 1,652 cases. Violent crimes like brawls have seen a slight increase but property crimes on the other hand saw a dip,” he said.
