Kota Kinabalu: An Indonesian man was charged at the Magistrate’s Court Tuesday with the murder of his Indonesian wife at Kepayan vegetable stall near here, last week.

Grass cutter Jedu Rudu, 42, allegedly murdered his wife Suria Woade, 38, a coffee shop worker between 1pm and 2.21pm on April 8.

No plea was taken from Jedu after the charge was read out to him before Magistrate Jessica Ombou Kakayun.

The charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code carries the death penalty, on conviction.

Read more The prosecution applied for a mention date pending the forensic and chemist’s reports and also for the accused to remand further.

Jessica fixed May 15 for mention and ordered Jedu to be remanded further as the charge framed against him has no provision for bail.

Jedu was not represented.

It was reported on April 9 that a man was arrested on April 8 for allegedly stabbing his wife, who was assisting her sister at the vegetable stall, to death in a jealous frenzy.

In another case, a company director was charged with lodging a false police report over missing banking tokens, last year.

Tiong Hock Hua, 42, was accused of giving false information to a policeman claiming that the said tokens in his possession were found to be missing.

He allegedly committed the offence at 1.27pm on Feb 22, 2022 at the Public Complaints Counter, Kota Kinabalu Police Station.

The charge under Section 182 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to six months’ jail or a fine of up to RM2,000 or both, on conviction.

The court set May 15 for case management and released the accused, who was represented by counsel Datuk Seri Rakhbir Singh, on a bail of RM2,000 in two sureties.
