Musa briefed on KBS projects in Sabah

Kota Kinabalu: The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) Malaysia is giving attention to youth and sports development in Sabah through the implementation of various programmes and action plans drawn up until the end of 2026.

Malaysian Youth and Sports Minister Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari said youth development should not be seen as the responsibility of one ministry alone, but instead requires all ministers and the State Government to ensure that the youth development agenda can be implemented comprehensively.

“Sabah has great potential in youth development as more than 60 per cent of the population consists of youths.

“Therefore, the programmes planned are very important to ensure that we produce more great leaders in this state to become future leaders of the country.

“The programmes that have been implemented and planned until the end of the year which also involve all ministers and State Government,” he said when met by the media after paying a courtesy call on Head of State Tun Musa Aman at Istana Seri Kinabalu here on Monday.

During the courtesy call, Taufiq also briefed Musa on the latest developments of the ministry’s programmes, the youth development action plan as well as sports development projects in Sabah.

He said sports infrastructure development in Sabah was also given attention and the State was not left behind in receiving facilities and sports development projects.

“The preparations of Sabah athletes for the Malaysia Games (Sukma) are also in good condition as a result of close cooperation between the Federal Government and the State Government,” he added.

Also present were KBS Secretary-General Rahimi Ismail, Malaysian Youth and Sports Minister’s Senior Private Secretary Mohd Hijri Mat Rani and Sabah Youth and Sports Department Deputy Director Noorman Ramlan.
