‘Mustapha’s statement unclear and confusing’

Kota Kinabalu: Putatan Umno Chief Jeffery Nor Mohamed said Minister in The Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Mustapha Sakmud’s statement regarding the projects in Sabah is unclear and confusing.

He said the confusion comes from the fact that many of the cancelled projects were new ones that had been approved but were then stopped or delayed.

“I agree with the Rural Development Minister’s statement that the Treasury Secretary and the Rural Development Ministry Secretary should meet to give a clear explanation of this issue to members of Parliament so that the correct information reaches the people,” he said in a statement.

Jeffery said projects in Sabah should be a priority for the Federal Government.

He said this is because compared to other states, Sabah is still behind in infrastructure development.

“Whatever way these projects are paid for and carried out for the benefit of the people is the government’s responsibility.

“As people of Sabah, we need a clear and factual explanation.” Mustapha had said that claims that the Madani government canceled or cut funding for Rural Road projects (JALB) in Sabah and Sarawak were not true.
