MANILA, Philippines — Maynilad Water Services Inc. on Friday announced that the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System - Regulatory Office (MWSS RO) has ordered a rebate of P42,569,790.85, to its consumers over service interruptions that affected the southern portion of its concession area.

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, Maynilad said it would comply with the decision as the MWSS RO determined that the interruptions constituted a failure to meet the service obligation on water availability under the provisions of the Revised Concession Agreement.

Maynilad said that the interruptions were caused by changes in the weather and conditions in Laguna Lake.

The concessionaire said that operational adjustments were needed at its treatment facilities, including reductions in plant production levels, to ensure compliance with the Philippine National Standards for drinking water.
