It’s official: the kings of emo are making their long-awaited comeback to Malaysia shores – more specifically, Kuala Lumpur. After nearly two decades since their last show here, American rock band My Chemical Romance is set to bring their iconic sound back to KL in 2026 as part of their newly announced Southeast Asia tour.
Known for defining the 2000s emo movement, My Chemical Romance—often abbreviated as MCR—rose to global prominence with their 2004 breakthrough album ‘Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge’ and solidified their legacy with 2006’s ‘The Black Parade.’ Fronted by Gerard Way and backed by Ray Toro, Mikey Way, and Frank Iero, the band amassed a fiercely loyal fanbase and became a generational voice for the disenchanted youth of the early aughts.
Their last performance in Malaysia was back in 2007 at Stadium Merdeka, a show that still lives rent-free in the hearts of longtime fans. Now, after years of speculation and global reunion shows, MCR has confirmed their return with a Southeast Asia tour that spans multiple countries.
