As someone who writes for a living and lives in the fast-paced Klang Valley, I never thought house-hunting would feel this personal. But things change when you decide to bring your aging parents, both in their mid-70s and without a reliable caretaker, to live with you.
The usual concerns like location and budget suddenly feel even weightier when you’re trying to find a space that’s not just practical, but comfortable and safe for the people who raised you.
I’ve been searching for months, and honestly, it’s been overwhelming. Until one day, I stumbled upon Lumeo @ The Atera showroom in Section 13, PJ — and something just clicked.
Why Lumeo @ The Atera was love at first sight for me
I didn’t expect to feel anything walking into the showroom. But the moment I learned more about Lumeo @ The Atera, I started imagining what life could look like there.
It’s right in the heart of Petaling Jaya, and best of all, it’s just a 5-minute walk to the Asia Jaya LRT station. That little detail might seem small, but it means the world to someone like me. My car is old, and while it gets me around most days, the thought of it breaking down on a Monday morning is always in the back of my mind. Knowing I could just walk over and catch the train is such a relief — and with a covered walkway that’s well-lit at night, I feel safer even if I’m heading home after dark. It’s these thoughtful touches that quietly make daily life easier.

It’s also well-connected to several major highways from the Klang Valley area, such as the Federal Highway, which is a convenient route that my family and I often use when we head to Mid Valley Megamall for our weekend shopping trips. On slower mornings, we like to head somewhere closer to home. The SS2 morning market, just about 5km from Lumeo @ The Atera, offers a local experience where my parents and I can shop for fresh groceries and enjoy a hearty breakfast together.
Little Things That Make Daily Life Easier
My aging parents require regular health check-ups and ongoing care. Knowing that it is located near several leading healthcare facilities, such as University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC), University Malaya Specialist Centre (UMSC), Tun Hussein Onn National Eye Hospital, Columbia Asia Hospital, Assunta Hospital, and Beacon Hospital, gives me peace of mind. It’s reassuring to know that quality medical support is minutes away just in case we ever need it.
What I appreciated most isn’t just the location. It is how thoughtfully everything seemed to be planned. There are 61 facilities within the development, including things like a gym and a reflexology path. I could head to a quick workout after work, while my parents take a gentle stroll to improve their circulation. It’s these little things that make a big difference in our routines.

And because I value my privacy and a good night’s sleep (writing deadlines don’t wait), I’d prefer the Type C unit layout - three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and just the right amount of space. Everyone gets their own room, their own breathing space, and no more rushing for the bathroom in the mornings.
Another thing I didn’t expect to feel excited about? The fact that it’s partially furnished. I wouldn’t have to scramble to buy a water heater or air-conditioners; it already comes with those, plus a kitchen cabinet and stove. There’s even a digital home system with a smart lock, which is part of the complimentary smart home system provided with every unit. With the ability to remotely control electronic appliances, I can manage household tasks like adjusting the lights or air conditioning for my parents, or checking on the security settings even if I’m away for work.

Sustainability was a bonus I didn’t see coming. Lumeo @ The Atera has earned a GreenRE Silver certification, and that was a nice reassurance. The solar panels in the common areas and the EV charging stations felt like thoughtful touches for future living. Plus I’ve been considering switching to an EV myself, so it’s good to know the charging station infrastructure is already there.
A Name That’s Been Around Since the ’80s
I remember hearing about Paramount Property when I was younger. It was a familiar name even then. Decades later, it’s comforting to see that they’ve stayed consistent with their values and commitment.

Right now, they’re offering some helpful perks too: legal fee waivers, maintenance subsidies, and even a festive cash reward. But truthfully, for me, it wasn’t the offers that sealed the deal.
It was standing there in the showroom and thinking, Yeah. I can see us living here.
And the best part? The first phase is expected to complete in 2027, so we won’t have to wait too long before collecting the keys and starting this new chapter together.
Because at the end of the day, all I want is a home where my parents feel safe, where I feel at peace, and where our lives - different as they are - can come together under one roof.
And I think I just found it.
