This story is about a Malaysian whose quick action reunited an elderly Singaporean with his lost wallet with RM3,800 inside.
A kind act by a Malaysian man brought an elderly Singaporean to tears after he returned a lost wallet containing more than RM3,800 in cash that had been left behind on a bus.
According to the elderly man’s niece, who spoke to local media, the Good Samaritan is believed to be in his early twenties.
He Got Off at the Wrong Stop Without Realising
The incident took place on 27 May 2022, when the 80-year-old, surnamed Zou, was travelling from Seremban, Negeri Sembilan to Kluang, Johor. When the bus stopped at Seri Lalang, he accidentally got off and did not realise that his wallet was still on the seat.
Inside the wallet were more than SGD1,000 (around RM3,200) and RM600 in Malaysian currency.
Anxiety Turned Into Panic
Zou had already been anxious because he had alighted at the wrong stop, and in the confusion, he did not notice the missing wallet.
A young passenger later spotted the wallet and decided to help track down its owner.

Young M’sian Spent 30 Minutes Tracing the Owner
The niece explained that the young man spent nearly half an hour contacting the bus company to search for a phone number linked to the ticket purchase.
After receiving the call, the niece went to meet him at the bus station at about 5pm to collect the wallet. By then, he had already waited there for close to an hour to make sure it was safely returned.
Uncle Tried to Thank Him With Ang Pow
The following day, the family asked to meet the young man again so that Zou could thank him in person.
When they met, the elderly man offered him an ang pow as a token of appreciation, but the young man politely declined at first. Only after some gentle persuasion did he accept it, when Zou said it was simply meant to buy him a cup of coffee.

Family Says They Never Expected to See the Money Again
The niece shared that her uncle had not expected to ever see his wallet again, especially with all the money still inside.
On social media, many Malaysians praised the honesty of the young man and the spirit of looking out for one another.
