A Myanmar woman was found dead with multiple stab wounds at the Genting Court Condominium in Setapak, with police citing jealousy as the suspected motive

PETALING JAYA: A Myanmar woman was found dead with multiple stab wounds at the Genting Court Condominium in Setapak yesterday (April 23).
Preliminary police investigations suggest that jealousy was the motive behind the killing.

In a statement issued today, Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus (pic) confirmed that the police were alerted to the incident at approximately 2.20pm following a public tip-off.

“A team was immediately deployed to the scene, where a Myanmar man, believed to be the victim’s former husband, was arrested on the same day,” Fadil stated.

He added that a weapon, suspected to have been used in the attack, was also seized at the location.

The suspect was produced before the Magistrate’s Court on April 24 and has been remanded for seven days until April 30 to facilitate further investigations.

The case is being classified under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, which carries the death penalty or imprisonment.

A post-mortem examination was conducted at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital Forensic Department at 9am today.

The results confirmed that the cause of death was a fatal stab wound to the chest.

Fadil emphasised that the police are treating the case with the utmost seriousness, assuring the public that the investigation will be conducted in a comprehensive, professional, and transparent manner.

“Firm action will be taken in accordance with the provisions of the law,” he said.

Members of the public with any information related to the case are urged to come forward.
