SHAH ALAM, Oct 5 - Transport Minister Anthony Loke today clarified the RM314 million in outstanding revenue payment from MyEG Group’s Zetrix AI Bhd and My EG Sdn Bhd to the government is only for between May and September this year, not three years as some quarters claim.
Loke, according to a Berita Harian report, said the amount represents revenue collected between May 19 and September 30 that has not yet been transferred to the Transport Ministry’s main account.
“I want to correct some media reports suggesting the Road Transport Department (JPJ) and the Transport Ministry (MOT) failed to take action for three years.
“That is false. The three-year figure is inaccurate. These arrears date back to May of this year… several months ago,” he told a press conference in Putrajaya today.
On October 2, JPJ suspended the services of two companies under MyEG Group, which are also collection agents for the agency, effective today.
JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said the decision followed a review of compliance with agreement terms as well as obligations the companies have yet to fulfil, adding that JPJ services previously offered through MyEG Group would also be suspended.
The suspension follows confirmation from MOT to The Edge that Zetrix AI owes over RM200 million in outstanding revenue that hasn’t been remitted to the government, comprising funds collected from road tax and driving licence renewals and traffic summonses.
Zetrix AI was previously known as MYEG Services Bhd. The company had been providing government services online, including those related to JPJ, since 2000.
