Kota Kinabalu: Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said the Budi Diesel scheme will use MyKad verification to curb an estimated one billion litres of diesel leakage annually.
Speaking after a briefing on the implementation of the BUDI Madani diesel subsidy reform at the Sabah International Convention Centre, he said the subsidised diesel price would be reduced to RM2.10 per litre from July 1.
Amir Hamzah said the scheme includes quota structures and automatic registration mechanisms to ensure eligible users receive the subsidy.
He also said cash assistance would be provided to smallholders under the initiative.
The minister added that the scheme would continue to be refined based on feedback from stakeholders and the public.
