Kota Kinabalu: Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said an increase in Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (Sara) assistance could be considered if government revenue rises and subsidy leakages are reduced.
Speaking during a visit to a retail store in Pekan Manggatal on Tuesday, he said there are currently no immediate plans to increase the assistance.
Amir Hamzah said the Government is working to expand the programme's network of participating stores to improve accessibility for recipients.
He also said efforts are underway to widen the range of products available under the programme.
In addition, he said point-of-sale systems would be provided to small retailers to lower barriers to participation in the initiative.
