SEREMBAN - Nine Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidates from Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) are campaigning on the state government’s track record and a service-oriented approach to politics in the 16th Negeri Sembilan state election.
Amanah vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said the approach forms PH’s main campaign strategy for the election, with each component party playing its role in the constituencies it is contesting.
He said Amanah is fielding nine candidates out of PH’s total of 36, while the remaining seats are being contested by Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) (16 seats) and the DAP (11 seats) under the coalition’s agreed seat allocation.
"Our campaign is focused not only on defending the state government’s administrative track record, but also on presenting candidates with experience, credibility and a proven record of service to the community.
"This election is not about who campaigns the loudest, but about who can win the people’s confidence through their track record, ability to solve problems and commitment to serving the people,” he told Bernama after a lunch gathering with PH’s Paroi candidate and election machinery here today.
Dzulkefly said all Amanah candidates contesting the election have experience and a proven track record of serving their communities, which would help build voters’ confidence through various campaign approaches.
"Our campaign strategy also emphasises small-group engagements, house-to-house visits and strengthening communication through social media to connect with voters more effectively. This approach enables our candidates to identify the real issues faced by residents before referring them to the relevant agencies for follow-up action,” he said.
Paroi state constituency, which has more than 65,000 registered voters and a population of about 140,000, requires a people’s representative capable of coordinating solutions to local issues with the relevant authorities, he said.
Meanwhile, PH’s Paroi state seat candidate Ahmad Shahir Mohd Shah said empowering small traders would be among his key priorities if given the mandate by voters.
He said the initiative would include streamlining licensing procedures, providing basic amenities and upgrading business areas in collaboration with the local authorities (PBTs).
Amanah is also fielding incumbent Datuk Bakri Sawir to defend the Klawang state seat, along with Yaacob Mahmood (Serting), Zarrina Abu Zarin (Lenggeng), Mohd Hanis Alimin (Senaling), Mohd Zailan Mohd Munawar (Johol), Muhammad Allif Ibrahim (Kota), Nasir Raman (Bagan Pinang) and Abd Latif A. Tambi (Gemencheh).
In the 15th Negeri Sembilan state election in 2023, Pakatan Harapan (PH) won 17 seats, while Barisan Nasional (BN) secured 14 and Perikatan Nasional (PN) five.
The Election Commission (EC) has set July 28 for early voting in the Negeri Sembilan state election, while polling will be held on Aug 1. - BERNAMA
