SHAH ALAM – The defeats in the Chennah and Repah State Legislative Assembly seats in the Negeri Sembilan state election have been described as an "extremely difficult and bitter" setback for DAP.

DAP national deputy chairman Nga Kor Ming said the party would undertake a thorough post-mortem and evaluation to identify the reasons behind the losses and chart a path towards victory in future elections.

"The defeats in the Chennah and Repah state seats were an extremely difficult and bitter experience for us.

"However, Pakatan Harapan will not give up. Instead, we will reflect and conduct an in-depth evaluation to find a way to achieve victory in Negeri Sembilan in future," he said in a statement on Saturday.

Earlier, Chennah delivered one of the election's biggest upsets when DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke lost to Barisan Nasional (BN)-MCA candidate Siow Kong Choon. In Repah, BN-MCA's Koh Kim Swee defeated incumbent S. Veerapan.

Nga thanked Negeri Sembilan voters who supported PH in the state election and expressed appreciation to all voters and election workers for fulfilling their democratic responsibilities.

Although the outcome fell short of expectations, he said DAP respected the democratic process and accepted the people's mandate with humility.

Meanwhile, Nga said Loke had demonstrated responsible leadership throughout the campaign despite the difficult circumstances.

"He carried out his duty with full dedication and fought alongside the entire DAP Negeri Sembilan machinery until the very last moment.

"In this challenging moment, we stand firmly with Loke. We will continue to hold firm to our struggle, weather all challenges together and move forward with full resolve as one team," he said.

Nga added that DAP, together with PH, would continue serving the people with full commitment while working to regain public confidence and support through its performance and service to the rakyat.
