Nurul Izzah calls on Negeri Sembilan voters to support Aminuddin and PH candidates in the state election.
PORT DICKSON: PKR deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar has called on voters in Negeri Sembilan to fulfil their civic duty in the state election tomorrow by voting for Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidates.
Support should be given to Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, who is contesting the Linggi seat, to ensure the continuity of the state’s development agenda, she said.
“We need everyone’s support. I understand this is among the fiercest contests. Ultimately, it is the voters of Negeri Sembilan who will decide,” she said.
She told reporters this after visiting the family of a patient infected with the Japanese Encephalitis virus during the Ziarah Kasih programme together with the PH candidate for the Chuah seat, Datuk Yew Boon Lye, in Bukit Pelandok here today.
Commenting on the campaign in Chuah, Nurul Izzah said efforts to engage with voters were being intensified and PH could not afford to take the contest lightly, even though the constituency is regarded as one of the coalition’s strongholds.
She also reminded voters not to be influenced by slander spread by certain parties, but instead to assess the service records of PH candidates, many of whom have long served as elected representatives. Aminuddin had addressed various allegations levelled against him while remaining focused on issues affecting the local community.
“We have to resolve these issues, and alhamdulillah, whenever there is a contest, at least the performance of states governed by PH can be highlighted,” she said.
Chuah is witnessing a straight fight between incumbent Yew and Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Pau Jeou Ching, while in Linggi, Aminuddin is facing incumbent Datuk Mohd Faizal Ramli of BN and Datuk Haji Zamri Md Said of Bersatu.
Tomorrow, 859,760 registered voters, including 7,391 postal voters, will cast their ballots to elect representatives for the 36 seats in the Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly. PH is contesting all 36 seats, followed by BN with 25, Bersatu with 24, Perikatan Nasional with 11, and four independent candidates. Barisan Jamaah Islamiah SeMalaysia, Parti Orang Asli Malaysia and Parti Sosialis Malaysia are each fielding one candidate.
