Nabawan gets four Tamu Desa

NABAWAN: Sabah Deputy Chief Minister III and Minister of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Datuk Ewon Benedick said the construction of four new Tamu Desa premises in the district is part of the government’s efforts to provide more comfortable facilities for traders and visitors while strengthening the rural economy.

He said the four Tamu Desa premises, built at a total cost of RM600,000, are located in Kampung Bahagia, Kampung Sinsingon, Kampung Kapulutan and Kampung Murni.

The facilities are now being utilised by traders and the local community.

“All four Tamu Desa premises were constructed through funding from the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (Kuskop) under the Domestic Look East Policy initiative, which was introduced during my tenure as the minister.

“I hope these improved facilities will benefit the tamu trading community and visitors alike,” he told reporters after officiating the opening of the four Tamu Desa premises in Nabawan on Sunday.

Ewon said that in his current role as Sabah’s Minister of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport (Mindet), he would continue to introduce new initiatives to strengthen entrepreneurship development in the state in line with the Sabah First Vision and Agenda.

“I will continue to give priority to the needs of the entrepreneurship sector to ensure more economic opportunities are created, particularly in rural areas,” he said.

Also present were Nabawan District Officer Marshall Anthony @ Idaham, Keningau District Police Chief Supt Yampil Anak Garai, representatives from State and Federal Government departments, and local community leaders.
