BUREAU of Customs (BOC) Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno commended the bureau’s personnel in the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) for their exemplary performance in revenue collection, border protection, trade facilitation and public service as the port marked its 66th anniversary.
The BOC-NAIA collected P32.53 billion from January to August this year, exceeding its target by 7.88 percent or P2.38 billion, and recording a 14.11 percent growth in collection, its highest since 2023.
Port of NAIA District Collector Yasmin Mapa said the anniversary celebration on Sept. 15 carried the theme "IAM 66: Built on Integration, Driven by Accountability, Powered by Modernization," reflecting the bureau's Integrity, Accountability, and Modernization (IAM) Movement.
Mapa said BOC-NAIA also recorded 1,266 apprehensions valued at approximately P1.64 billion.
Working alongside partner law enforcement agencies, the port prevented more than P1.57 billion worth of illegal drugs from reaching communities.
Nepomuceno noted that BOC-NAIA has further improved passenger services through its ISO re-certification, the Electronic Airway Bill System, dedicated OFW initiatives, and Secondary Inspection Areas.
During the celebration, BOC-NAIA recognized its key partners and stakeholders for their continued support and contributions to the port.
