In a poignant revelation on social media, Nooryana Najwa, the daughter of Najib Razak, disclosed her father's profound disappointment with the Federal Territories Pardons Board's decision not to grant him a full pardon. The former Prime Minister's daughter took to Instagram to share the emotional impact of the decision on Najib and the family.

Returning from a visit to her father in prison, Nooryana shared in an Instagram reel that Najib expressed being "very, very disappointed" upon receiving the letter detailing the board's decision on his pardon application. The caption accompanying the post captured the essence of Najib's emotions during the visit.

"Daddy told me he was 'disappointed, very, very disappointed.' 'You know, Yana, the worst feeling is when you are in shock and there is no one around to speak to. You are lost in your thoughts, all alone,'" Nooryana wrote, providing a glimpse into the emotional toll the situation has taken on Najib.

The Razak family has consistently maintained Najib's innocence throughout the legal proceedings. The former Prime Minister faced charges related to seven counts of abuse of power, money laundering, and criminal breach of trust, involving RM42 million in funds from SRC International, a former subsidiary of 1MDB.

Nooryana, in her Instagram post, noted a weariness in her father's eyes upon realizing that he would have to serve an additional four years in prison. The aftermath of the Pardons Board's decision seemed to weigh heavily on Najib, with Nooryana describing his state as one where he was "losing sleep over the decision announced yesterday (Friday)."

The family had maintained a hopeful outlook during the five days leading up to the board's decision. Nooryana revealed that those around Najib continuously assured him, saying, "'God-willing Datuk, just wait a little longer (for the decision).'" The anticipation and subsequent disappointment reflected the emotional rollercoaster the family endured during this period.

Najib commenced his initial 12-year prison term on August 23, 2022, following the Federal Court's dismissal of his final appeal in the SRC International case. The recent decision by the Pardons Board revealed a reduction of his prison sentence to six years, with a release date set for August 23, 2028. Additionally, his fine was reduced from RM210 million to RM50 million, with the caveat that an extra year would be added to the jail sentence if the fine remains unpaid.
