The "Audit Run 2026' was a mass-participation sporting event held on 20 June, 2026, at Dataran Wawasan Putrajaya to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the National Audit Department (Jabatan Audit Negara). The event successfully gathered more than 4,000 of participants across the main categories: a 12KM Competitive Race, a 5KM Fun Run & a 3KM Brisk Walk. It served as a unifying platform bringing together various government ministries & agencies, institution of higher learning (City University Malaysia), corporate sector (KPMG), and the public at large in promoting an active, healthy lifestyle while celebrating the department's long-standing legacy. The run was recognized under the PAJSK (Pentaksiran Aktiviti Jasmani, Sukan & Kokurikulum) scheme, allowing students to earn co-curricular merit credits. The run was graced by Dato' Seri Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi, Auditor General of Malaysia. She is the 1st woman to hold this position history of NAD.
In celebrating the 120 Years of Governance, the run successfully commemorated the 120th anniversary of NAD (1906-2026). It highlighted the theme “120 Tahun Menjunjung Amanah: Audit Berkualiti Mengningkatkan Akauntabiliti” (120 Years of Upholding Trust: Quality Audit Enhances Accountability). It has also successfully promoted active, healthy lifestyles across corporate and public sectors, aligning with the national workplace wellness indicators.
Engaging in conversations with senior officers of NAD, I learned that the department is undergoing the largest technological transformation in its history. The future of NAD marks a shift toward absolute digital transformation, expanded legal enforcement, and exhaustive oversight of public funds. Driven by recent legislative overhauls & a mandate from the MADANI Government, the department is evolving from a traditional compliance checker into a proactive powerhouse of national governance. Moving from post-event reporting to real-time risk mitigation to catch public sector leakages before they get worsen.
