KAPIT (Aug 30): The recent Agenda Nasional Malaysia Sihat (ANMS) programme at Rumah Surie in Nanga Temalat, Song here recorded encouraging participation from the longhouse folks.

Run by Kapit Health Office in collaboration with Kapit Pharmacy, Kapit Dental Clinic, Song Health Clinic, Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Song station, Song District Welfare Office and Song District police headquarters (IPD), the national health movement served as a platform to encourage the community to adopt healthier lifestyle, while strengthening the cooperation between health agencies and the local community in promoting preventive healthcare and overall well-being.

Introduced by the Ministry of Health in 2020, this initiative forms part of the 10-year (2021-2030) plan to create an environment that would better support the health and well-being of Malaysians.

The activities carried out at Rumah Surie included mass aerobics session, a fun walk, ‘One-Hour Clean-Up’ drive, children’s colouring competitions, a health talk, oral and other physical health screenings, as well as a blood donation drive.

A ‘Jualan Rahmah’ (Rahmah Sale) drive was also carried out by the Kapit team of the Domestic Trade and Costs of Living Ministry, providing the local residents the opportunity to purchase selected essential goods at affordable prices.
