National Press Club holds shootfest

THE National Press Club (NPC) brought together media practitioners, government officials and partners in a shared commitment to responsible gun ownership at the NPC Shootfest 2026 held Aug. 1 at Camp Karingal in Quezon City.

The event was graced by Metropolitan Manila Development Authority General Manager Nicolas Torre III and Presidential Task Force on Media Security executive director Joe Torres Jr., whose presence underscored the importance of promoting responsible firearm ownership while strengthening solidarity among members of the media.

Beyond the competition, the shootfest also served as a fundraising activity that will help sustain the NPC’s programs and services for its members and their families.

“We are grateful that this event was not only successful but also meaningful. Through the support of our partners and participants, the proceeds will help us strengthen the Club’s programs and services for the benefit of our fellow media practitioners,” said NPC president Mina Navarro.

The tournament showcased the skills and sportsmanship of participants across several categories. Thomas Falcon emerged as champion in the Classic category while Marc Mangibin and Emmanuel Sumpaco topped the Open and Optics categories, respectively.

In the other divisions, Gabriel Hinanay claimed the production title, Miko Celiz topped the Production Optics category, PCol. Robel Lingbawan emerged as champion in the Standard category and Benny Antiporda ruled the Media Standard Category.

The event was supported by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp., Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, Philippine Sports Commission, Association of Firearms and Ammunition Dealers of the Philippines, Armscor Global Defense Corp. and Philippine National Police.
