
To mark World Cycling Day, 15 NCC cadets participated in a cycling rally organised by the National Cadet Core (NCC) covering a distance of 13 km around Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) at Dungri near here yesterday. Notably, a state-level NCC camp CATC-229 is undergoing at the JNV. At least 1,800 cadets from across the state would participate in the camp in three phases.
Col GP Singh, Camp Commandant, said that the cyclists travelled through villages including Dungri, Kahrwin, Tarkwari, Sammu Tal, Bassi and Bhoranj. He added that the event was organised for promoting physical fitness, environmental awareness and the use of eco-friendly modes of transport.
He said, “Cycling is a sustainable means of transport.” He encouraged young people to adopt cycling as a regular fitness activity. He said the event served as a reminder of the vital role that cycling could play in building a healthier and greener future. Col Singh said in the first round of cycling, 15 NCC cadets, included 10 boys and five girls, completed the rally.
