KUALA PILAH - The swearing-in ceremony for the newly appointed Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar will be held at the Balairung Seri of Istana Besar Seri Menanti here today.
The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10.15am.
However, the person who will take the oath has yet to be confirmed.
Earlier, Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he had submitted three names for consideration by the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan as candidates for the post.
He said the names were submitted during his audience with the Ruler at Istana Hinggap here last night.
“I have just finished my audience with His Royal Highness, and we had a lengthy discussion. I have submitted a letter to Tuanku and personally handed over the letter as well as the official appointment documents.
“I have submitted three names to the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan and left all three for His Royal Highness’ consideration, consent and absolute discretion to select one of them as the new Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan,” he said.
Ahmad Zahid declined to disclose the identities of the three candidates, saying it was the prerogative of the palace to announce the appointment.
The Negeri Sembilan state election saw BN secure 18 seats, while Pakatan Harapan (PH) won 11 and Perikatan Nasional (PN) seven.
The BN-PN alliance has secured the two coalitions authority to form the state government.
