SEREMBAN – The people of Negeri Sembilan are yearning for Barisan Nasional (BN) to return to power and govern the state once again, said BN chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He said the state government previously led by a Menteri Besar from BN had brought significant progress and development to Negeri Sembilan.

“We congratulate Negeri Sembilan. Under the leadership of Tok Mat (Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan), the state was among the most developed states in the country. Likewise, previous BN leaders who served as Menteri Besar had contributed to the state’s progress.

“To the BN machinery, the people are longing for BN to return to power. They miss BN deeply. Repay that longing by working hard and giving them hope,” he said.

Zahid was speaking at the launch of the BN machinery for the Negeri Sembilan state election and the announcement of candidates at the grounds of Stadium Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Paroi, here on Wednesday night.

He also expressed confidence that states under BN’s administration would become among the most progressive in the country, which he said would be a key factor influencing voters’ support for the party.

Zahid said if BN succeeds in reclaiming the state government, the development foundation previously established by the party would be revived.

“We must ensure Negeri Sembilan is once again led by a more credible and experienced government that has the confidence of the people and is capable of moving further forward.

“This is not the time for us to fight among ourselves. This is not the time for us to be divided. Today, our dignity is at stake. Today, BN’s future is being put to the test,” he said.

Meanwhile, Zahid urged all party machinery members and supporters to accept the announced line-up of candidates with an open heart.

“I know some are disappointed with Tok Mat, Tok Jalal and many are also disappointed with me. I apologise for not being able to fulfil everyone’s expectations 100 per cent."

“We did not choose only candidates whom we personally favour. We chose BN candidates — candidates who represent our party and who will secure victory for BN in Negeri Sembilan,” he said.
