The Negeri Sembilan state government presents RM178,000 in incentives to 37 athletes who won medals at the SEA Games and Para ASEAN Games in Thailand.

THE Negeri Sembilan State Government today presented sports victory incentives totaling RM178,000 to 37 state athletes who won medals at the SEA Games and Para ASEAN Games in Thailand last year.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said that out of the total, RM154,000 was allocated for state athletes who excelled at the SEA Games, while RM24,000 was awarded to Para ASEAN athletes.

He said the state government views sports development not just as a matter of competitions and medals, but rather as a long-term investment to shape young people with the confidence, mental resilience, and fighting spirit needed to face life’s challenges.

“We believe that every youth, when given the opportunity and guided well, can become a major asset to the state and country. This success is not just about gold, silver, or bronze medals, but about a spirit that never gives up,” he said during his speech at the Athlete Incentive Presentation Ceremony at Klana Resort here today.

At the ceremony, discus thrower Muhammad Irfan Shamsuddin and shooter Gan Chen Jie each received incentives totaling RM17,000, while para-athlete Noor Askuzaimey Mat Salim received RM12,000 after clinching two gold medals.

Muhammad Irfan won the gold medal for the seventh consecutive time while breaking the SEA Games record, whereas Gan secured three medals – gold, silver, and bronze – at the prestigious games in Thailand.

Aminuddin added that the true value of success cannot be measured by numbers alone, but by the inspiration left behind for the state’s younger generation.

During the event, a total of 48 State Sports Associations also received administrative assistance totaling RM99,000 to strengthen the state’s sports development.
