KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 27 - The Nepali government has prioritised search, rescue, relief, and emergency response operations in areas affected by the devastating flood in the Bhote Koshi River yesterday, the Embassy of Nepal in Kuala Lumpur said.
The flood had caused significant loss of life and extensive damage to property and infrastructure, particularly in the Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, and Gorkha districts.
“The relevant authorities and security agencies are continuing their efforts to locate and rescue those affected, provide immediate assistance and assess the full extent of human casualties and physical damage,” it said in a Facebook post today.
Meanwhile, the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers had appealed to individuals, organisations, businesses, and well-wishers to extend financial assistance to support the safe relocation of affected people and their long-term rehabilitation and recovery.
In this regard, the Embassy has appealed to Nepali nationals residing in Malaysia, Nepali associations and organisations, businesspersons, social workers, and well-wishers of Nepal to provide financial support for those affected by the devastating flood.
Financial support can be channelled into the official bank accounts of the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund and the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund at Rastriya Banijya Bank (account numbers: 1130100003762001 / 1130100000006006) and Nepal Bank Limited (account numbers: 00211600510039000003 / 00200100510039000001).
