Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has emphatically stated that the Madani government remains dedicated to empowering the Indian community, dismissing any notions of sidelining. In a comprehensive discussion during the 'Soal Jawab Perdana Menteri' program, Anwar reiterated the government's continuous efforts to uplift all segments of society, including the Indian community.

Anwar emphasized that while the government prioritizes assistance to the Bumiputera community, it does not equate to neglecting other groups. He urged the Indian community not to harbor resentment towards Bumiputera-focused initiatives, emphasizing instead the importance of constructive engagement to address their needs and concerns. Anwar highlighted the successful resolution of various issues faced by the Indian community, including citizenship matters and access to socio-economic opportunities.

Acknowledging the significance of targeted interventions, Anwar outlined several initiatives aimed at enhancing the socio-economic status of the Indian community. Notable allocations include RM100 million for socio-economic development programs through the Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (MITRA) and an additional RM30 million channeled under the National Entrepreneurial Group Economic Fund (TEKUN) in the 2024 Budget. These funds are earmarked for educational programs, skills training, financial assistance, and entrepreneurial support, among other initiatives.

Anwar underscored the importance of inclusivity, highlighting initiatives such as the Indian Community Entrepreneur Development Scheme (SPUMI) under Tekun, aimed at providing micro-financing facilities to Indian entrepreneurs. Additionally, he mentioned a special RM50 million fund through Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM) to empower Indian women entrepreneurs.

Dispelling misconceptions, Anwar addressed criticisms regarding government support for the Indian community, asserting that such claims are often propagated by vested interests seeking to sow discord. He emphasized the significant contributions made to various communities, including Sabah, Sarawak, and the Chinese community, through substantial allocations and support for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Anwar reaffirmed the government's commitment to education, highlighting allocations for the maintenance of national schools, including Tamil and Chinese schools. He cautioned against divisive rhetoric, urging the public to discern fact from fiction and reject attempts to stoke resentment.

In conclusion, Anwar's statements underscore the Madani government's unwavering dedication to fostering unity and inclusivity. By prioritizing the needs of all communities and implementing targeted initiatives, the government aims to create a more equitable and prosperous society for all Malaysians.
