TAWAU: The addition of a new ambulance unit and an X-ray machine at the Merotai Besar Health Clinic is expected to significantly improve healthcare services for more than 14,650 residents in the Merotai state constituency.
Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah (Harapan Rakyat) President Tan Sri Liew Yun Fah said the issue received the attention of the Health Ministry Secretary-General and efforts were underway to deliver these facilities in the near future.
“We understand that more than 200 patients seek treatment daily at the Merotai Besar Health Clinic, which often leads to overcrowding,” he said during a visit to the clinic.

Liew said the X-ray service would be vital for early screening, especially for high-risk groups such as senior citizens and those in need of medical assistance.
“The Health Ministry under Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad will continue improving healthcare incentives and services for communities in rural and suburban areas.
“We have already secured funding for these facility upgrades. We thank the Ministry for its concern and commitment to addressing the healthcare needs of people in Merotai,” Liew said.
