New completion dates set for two NGCP projects

THE Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) said on Tuesday that it had set new completion dates for two National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) projects.

The agency granted NGCP’s motion to move the completion date of its Amlan-Dumaguete 138-kilovolt (kV) transmission line project in Negros from on or before Sept. 5, 2024, to on or before March 31, 2027.The ERC also approved the another motion to change the completion date of its Porac 230-kV substation project in Pampanga from on or before Nov. 18, 2026, to on or before June 30, 2027.The ERC said the NGCP’s reasons for adjustment of deadlines were based on feasibility concerns and delays in right-of-way acquisitions. With an ERC approved cost of P1,888,968,345.72, the Amlan-Dumaguete facility aims to upgrade power capacity and stabilize the Negros Oriental electrical grid. The Porac project, meanwhile, has an ERC-approved cost of P6,336,767,546.44, and intends to address the projected load growth of the province and electric cooperatives’ franchise areas.
