The highly anticipated Korean drama series Dear X is set to make its streaming debut on Thursday, 6 November, exclusively on HBO Max. Starring acclaimed actors Kim You-jung and Kim Young-dae, the 12-episode thriller-romance was recently featured at the 2025 Busan International Film Festival and has already sparked significant interest across global K-drama fan communities.
Adapted from the award-winning NAVER Webtoon of the same name by Van Zi-un, Dear X follows the complex story of Baek Ah-jin (played by Kim You-jung), a successful actress whose carefully curated image hides a dark and traumatic past.
As she manipulates her way to stardom, her secret world is fiercely protected by Yoon Jun-seo (Kim Young-dae), her enigmatic and devoted love interest.
Story-Telling Maestros

The series is helmed by legendary director Lee Eung-bok, known for global hits including Guardian: The Lonely and Great God and Descendants of the Sun, alongside co-director Park So-hyeon. The script is penned by Choi Ja-won and original creator Van Zi-un. Dear X is developed by Studio Dragon and produced by Monster Union and Siwoo Company.
Joining the lead cast are rising stars Kim Do-hoon (Love Scout, Your Honor) and Lee Yul-eum (The 8 Show, Queen: Love and War), adding to the series’ already impressive roster.
Dear X marks a major milestone in the recently announced multi-year partnership between CJ ENM and Warner Bros. Discovery. It is the first exclusive original K-drama series to launch on HBO Max as part of this collaboration.
In 2026, a TVING-branded hub is set to launch on HBO Max in 17 Asia-Pacific markets — including Southeast Asia, Taiwan, and Hong Kong — offering fans access to new TVING K-drama premieres and a vast library of CJ ENM and TVING titles.
