Kirk Cousins has not been arrested, despite social media rumors suggesting otherwise about the Las Vegas Raiders quarterback.
The rumor gained traction because it mimicked the style of breaking NFL news. But the account behind it was not legitimate.
That matters because the allegation was serious. Claims involving manslaughter and firearms should not be treated as fact without confirmation from police, the team or reliable news sources.

Kirk Cousins’ arrest rumor came from a fake Las Vegas Raiders post
The fake X post claimed Cousins had been arrested following an altercation involving a firearm.
The language was crafted to sound like a major NFL update, but the handle gave away the problem. It used @AdamScehfterw, not Adam Schefter’s real @AdamSchefter account.
That is why the rumor should be dismissed. The account appeared to imitate a trusted NFL reporter, but the spelling was different and there was no credible reporting to support the claim.
There has also been no statement from the Raiders, the NFL, major news outlets or law enforcement. For an accusation of this magnitude, that absence matters.
Instead, Cousins has been part of normal offseason coverage. The genuine headlines have focused on his adjustment to Las Vegas and his role in the Raiders’ quarterback room.
Kirk Cousins and the Las Vegas Raiders have a football story, not a legal one
The real discussion around Cousins is about football. After leaving the Atlanta Falcons, he joined the Raiders to bring experience to a team still working through its long-term quarterback plan.
Reports around organized team activities have focused on his practice reps, his possible Week 1 role and how he fits alongside rookie Fernando Mendoza.
That is very different from the criminal claim that circulated online. The rumor collapsed once the source was checked, because the real Schefter account never reported it.
This is also a reminder for fans to slow down before sharing screenshots. Impersonation accounts often rely on subtle spelling changes to make false posts look believable during busy news cycles.
To be clear, Cousins has not been arrested. The viral claim about the Raiders quarterback appears to be a hoax built around a fake insider-style account.
