The Mercedes-Benz EQS 500 shows the brand’s commitment to Malaysia.

Recently I was at the Mercedes-Benz Production Plant in Pekan, Pahang witnessing the launch of the all-new Mercedes-Benz EQS 500 4Matic which is now a fully CKD locally assembled model. Serving as the new electric flagship for the brand, the top-of-the-range EQS is priced from RM648,888.

Yes, despite being far more advanced and having more standard kit and technology, the new Mercedes-Benz EQS 500 4Matic costs less than the lower spec 450+. This, according to Mercedes-Benz Malaysia CEO, Sagree Sardien, is part of the brand’s commitment to expediting electrification in Malaysia.

Sagree Sardien, reaffirming this commitment, stated, “Mercedes-Benz has reached a new milestone with the roll out of its first locally-assembled electric vehicle EQS 500 4MATIC. This supports our global business strategy of offering our customers a comprehensive EQ range and contributing to a higher EV adoption in Malaysia.

Being the new flagship of the German luxury carmakers electric lineup, the Mercedes-Benz EQS 500 4Matic is as stylish as can be and features a coupe-like shape as well as a futuristic and technology-packed interior. It also features a stellar electric range so you won’t ever feel range anxiety.

The Mercedes-Benz EQS 500 4Matic is also the sole variant of the EQS in Malaysia as of today and is rated at 330 kW with a WLTP combined electrical consumption of 21.3 to 17.6 kWh/100km. It produces 828Nm of torque from its permanently synchronized dual motors. This essentially makes the car a four-wheel drive.

This means that the new Mercedes-Benz EQS 500 4Matic can sprint to 100km/h from standstill in just 4.8 seconds onwards to a top speed of 210km/h. Its 108.4kWh battery can also be charged from 10 to 80 percent in just 31 minutes and the car is fully equipped with all the latest Mercedes-Benz safety and driver assistance features.
