KOTA KINABALU: The newly appointed Sabah Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Director, Mohd Pisar Aziz, has outlined his primary focus on enhancing the department’s disaster preparedness to address potential emergencies in Sabah.
The department is committed to improving its response capabilities by engaging with relevant agencies and conducting emergency drills to identify safety measures suitable for the state.
Citing the recent gas pipeline explosion in Putra Heights, Selangor, which resulted in hundreds of residents requiring medical treatment and significant property damage, Pisar emphasised that similar incidents could happen in Sabah.
“It is important to update knowledge and skills among personnel to face unexpected situations,” he said to the media after the Task Handover ceremony, here, Tuesday.
Pisar also stressed the importance of taking appropriate actions and precautions to address such risks.
