New Sungai Manila health clinic project still under review

Kota Kinabalu: Plans to build a new Type 6 Health Clinic with staff quarters in Sungai Manila, Sandakan remain at the pre-implementation stage as the project undergoes technical and financial reassessment.

Women, Health and Community Wellbeing Minister Datuk Julita Majungki said the project has not reached the tender stage as the relevant technical and financial documents require further coordination and fresh approval.

She said the Preliminary Details Abstract (PDA) had been received and presented, but the estimated cost increased from RM15 million to RM34.82 million following a change of site, design revisions and current market price increases.

“As such, a Notice of Change (NOC) application needs to be submitted to increase the project ceiling to RM35 million,” she said in reply to Sungai Manila assemblyman Datuk Hazem Mubarak Musa during the State Legislative Assembly sitting on Wednesday.

Julita said the Sabah Public Works Department is preparing the necessary documents to be tabled again at the PDA meeting before the project can proceed, while she also took note of Silam assemblyman Datuk Mohd Yusof Apdal’s request to prioritise the replacement of the ageing Lahad Datu Health Clinic, built in 1912.
