Aston Villa president of football operations, Monchi, has spoken about working with coach Unai Emery.

The former Sevilla man has arrived to the Premier League for the first time in his career.

Monchi, known for his wheeling and dealing in the transfer market, will help Emery build a team that can challenge for trophies.

Monchi stated at a press conference to announce his Sevilla exit: "I had a preliminary agreement with Arsenal when I left Roma. But when Pepe (Castro) called me it was different, it was going home."

He then added: When someone doesn't want to leave a place, the ways are never good. The moment... Well, more of the same. I'm not leaving for money, I'm going to earn the same at Aston Villa as here.

"My idea was to go home. Go to San Fernando, rest. The Aston Villa project has given me great hope, especially for wanting to take a place from those above. I have not paid any clause. Sevilla have reached an agreement with Aston Villa."
