It is probably fair to say that before the 2026 World Cup, America did not have the best reputation on the global stage.
However, this summer’s tournament has brought the country some positive PR, with fans from a host of nations expressing their love for the food, culture and more.
Now, one Scotland supporter who has visited New York City during his stay has showered the city in praise.

Scotland fan praises New York hospitality during 2026 World Cup
During a street interview with CBS that included fans from around the world, the Scottish fan spoke about how good the hospitality is, how generous the people have been and mentioned they have had no problems with the police.
The fan also explained that the reputation of New York outside of the US is that it is not very friendly, but he has not seen that on display during his travels.
He said: “I don’t think the Scottish mind can comprehend how big New York is. Like you see things on a map, we think we can walk it, and then Google Maps tells us it’s like three hours away.
“New York City, the hospitality has been really good. You hear a lot of things about it abroad. The reputation is it’s not very friendly, but everyone has been absolutely great to us.
“Honestly, it’s all been happy surprises, the police have been good with us, the transport has been really good, people have paid for meals, people have paid for drinks. American hospitality is the greatest in the world.”
