Bruno Guimaraes admits securing his spot in Brazil's World Cup will help him focus on his form with Newcastle.
The 24-year-old has been with Brazil over the current international break, despite struggling with a hamstring injury.
Guimaraes missed Saturday's win over Ghana and it is unclear if he will play against Tunisia in Paris on Tuesday.
Speaking about his call-up, Bruno said: "These were two big challenges, two games before the World Cup so it will be important. I hope to play, I hope to play well to guarantee my place in the national team for the World Cup."
Bruno added: "For sure, these two friendly games will be important for me and I hope to play well to guarantee my place because it's my dream to play at the World Cup. It's in my thoughts, the World Cup and it's my obsession now and now I can think about it but when I come back my focus is just on Newcastle."
