Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has expanded his backroom staff.
Newcastle have welcomed nutrionist Andreas Kasper.
Kasper has worked within the England Rugby Union performance services team as a performance nutritionist and as a consultant nutritionist with England Rugby League over the years.
The Englishman also has experience of operating in similar roles with a host of sports teams, including Fulham, Blackburn Rovers, Derby County, Sale Sharks, London Irish, the Catalans Dragons, Wasps and the Toronto Wolfpack.
Kasper already has vast experience of working with sportsmen from around the world, which is particularly important given the different nationalities in the Newcastle squad.
"You often come into these not barriers but times or periods where it's difficult for you to communicate sometimes with players so making an effort to learn bits of their language is always positive," he said in an Aspetar presentation last month. "Really building that relationship and having conversations with them - not always about nutrition.
"You may be there ultimately to change nutritional habits, but to build that relationship, what drives that player? Do they have a family at home? Asking about family shows that you actually care about what you're doing, care about the player and, often, that can help with that transition of trust."
